The Australian Embassy’s Direct Aid Program (DAP) for small grants is now open for applications. The program focuses on supporting local and community-based aid activities that deliver practical and tangible results for communities. In previous years the program has supported projects that have, for example, provided small-scale hospital infrastructure, stimulated livelihoods through targeted training, and improved children’s access to education.
The DAP Small Grants Program 2022-23 is now inviting applications from organisations that support development outcomes in Ethiopia, South Sudan, Djibouti and CAR as well as organisations that work with the African Union and Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).
The program is administered by the Australian Embassy in Ethiopia. There is no minimum amount that a single project can receive but the maximum the Australian Embassy in Ethiopia will be considering is AUD20,000 (approximately USD15,000 or ETB670,000) over the life of the project. Activities may run up to a maximum of one year, however, projects with shorter durations are welcome.
This year, the Australian Embassy thematic priorities for grant funding are for projects that will make a difference in one or more of the following areas:
- Disability inclusion
- Climate change, livelihood resilience and food security
- Human rights, conflict resolution and peacebuilding
- Women’s empowerment and gender equality, with a focus on sexual and gender-based violence
Preference will be given to projects that address more than one area listed above.
All applications should be submitted online through the SmartyGrants portal:
